If you're looking into patio door replacement in Little Rock, you're replacing the hardest-working opening in the house: it gets slid, slammed, and leaned on every day and faces the afternoon sun all summer. Here's when a patio door is done, whether sliding or French fits, how Andersen and ProVia compare, and what a new door costs installed in Little Rock, Benton, Bryant, Hot Springs, and Conway.

Patio door replacement Little Rock: how to know it's time

Patio doors rarely fail all at once. The signs we see most often on Little Rock homes:

  • It takes two hands to open. Worn rollers, a bent track, or a frame that has sagged out of square. Rollers can be replaced; a frame that has moved cannot.

  • Fog between the panes. The seal has failed and the insulating gas is gone, and on a patio door that's a lot of glass letting heat in.

  • You can feel the weather. Cold air along the edges in January, or a wall of heat off the glass in July. Old clear glass does almost nothing to block Arkansas sun.

  • Water on the floor after a storm. A failed sill or bad flashing lets rain under the threshold, and a rotted subfloor costs more to fix than the door.

  • The frame is aluminum. Many 1970s and 80s Little Rock homes still have aluminum sliders, which conduct heat straight through, so the frame sweats and drafts even with good glass.

Two or more of these usually means replacement beats another round of repairs.

Sliding vs French: which patio door fits your home

Both work well in Central Arkansas; the answer depends on your room, your deck, and how you use the door.

  • Sliding (gliding) patio doors ride on a track and take up no floor space, so they suit smaller rooms, kitchens with a table near the door, and decks with furniture close to the house. Modern sliders from Andersen, ProVia, and Wincore glide on ball-bearing rollers and seal tight; the sticky, drafty slider you grew up with is not what you'd be buying today. They also give you the most glass.

  • French patio doors are hinged and swing in or out. They look more traditional and open the full width of the opening. They need floor space for the swing, and the meeting point between the panels has to be built well or it becomes the weak spot for air and water.

Our patio doors overview goes deeper on glass and style. The short version: sliding if space is tight or the view is the priority, French if you want the look and have room for the swing.

Andersen vs ProVia (and where Wincore fits)

We install Andersen, ProVia, Marvin Infinity, and Wincore patio doors, and we're an Andersen Certified Contractor, a ProVia Platinum dealer, and a Home Depot Authorized Service Provider. How the lines we sell most often stack up:

  • Andersen patio doors are the choice when you want a wood interior or a specific architectural look. The 400 Series Frenchwood gliding and hinged doors have a real wood interior with a low-maintenance exterior, and the 100 Series uses Andersen's Fibrex composite for a lower price that still won't warp or peel. Hardware, color, and screen options are the broadest in the business.

  • ProVia patio doors are the value-and-performance pick. ProVia's vinyl sliders use welded frames, multi-point locks, and heavy insulated glass, with the same warranty support that made us build our entry-door business around ProVia. Want a fiberglass French door that matches a ProVia Heritage or Signet front door? ProVia does that too.

  • Wincore sliding patio doors match Wincore replacement windows, so frames, colors, and glass line up when you do both at once.

  • Pella comes up often. It's a fine door, but the lines above give us better consistency and warranty support for the homes we serve, so it's not one we install.

Whichever you choose, ask for Low-E argon glass; on a west-facing patio door in Little Rock it's the biggest difference you'll feel. See the lineup on our patio door service page.

What patio door replacement costs in Little Rock

It depends on style, size, material, and glass. The ranges in our patio door replacement cost guide run from roughly $1,000 for a basic vinyl sliding door installed to $3,500 or more for a large fiberglass or wood-interior French door. What moves the number:

  • Style and size. A standard 6-foot slider is the least expensive. French doors, three-panel sliders, and anything wider than the existing opening cost more.

  • Material. Vinyl costs least, fiberglass and Fibrex sit in the middle, wood-interior Andersen doors cost the most.

  • Glass. Low-E argon, tempered safety glass (required on patio doors), and privacy glass all change the price.

  • Condition of the opening. A rotted sill or subfloor gets repaired before the new door goes in. We check at the measure so it's on the quote, not a surprise on install day.

We don't run sales or countdown discounts; your written quote is good whether you decide this month or next spring. Our instant quote tool gives a ballpark; an exact price needs a free in-home measure.

What a proper patio door installation includes

The installation decides whether the door still glides and seals in ten years. Whoever you hire, the job should include:

  • A measure of the rough opening, not just the old door; older homes in Hillcrest and the Heights are often out of square.

  • Inspecting the sill. Rot gets replaced first; a new door on a bad sill will leak and sag.

  • A sill pan and proper flashing so any water that gets past the door drains outside, not into your floor.

  • Setting the frame plumb, level, and square, shimmed correctly, and test-sliding the panels before the final fasteners go in.

  • Sealing. Low-expansion foam around the frame, exterior sealant at the brick mold, and a continuous bead under the threshold.

  • Adjusting rollers, locks, and screens, a walkthrough, and haul-away of the old door.

We install with our own in-house crews, and our ownership is Installation Masters certified. The company that measures your door is the company that installs it. Our Little Rock service page covers windows and entry doors too, so one estimate can cover the whole house.

Common questions

How long does patio door replacement take? Most single sliding or French door replacements take about half a day once the door arrives. Larger openings or sill repairs can take a full day. Factory lead time is separate; we give you a realistic date when you order.

Can I replace just the glass or the rollers instead of the whole door? Sometimes. Rollers on a newer slider can often be swapped, and fogged glass can be replaced on some doors. If the frame is aluminum, out of square, or leaking at the sill, new glass is new money into an old problem.

Is a sliding or French patio door more energy efficient? With Low-E argon glass and a quality frame, both perform well. A well-built slider has interlocking panels and fewer seams, so it often edges out a French door on air leakage. The glass package and the installation matter more than the style.

Are Andersen patio doors worth the extra cost over vinyl? If you want a wood interior or the widest style options, yes. If you want a durable, efficient door at a lower price, a ProVia or Wincore vinyl slider gives up very little. Compare them side by side in our Benton showroom.

Will a new patio door help with security? Yes. New Andersen, ProVia, and Wincore patio doors use multi-point locks, interlocking meeting rails, and tempered glass, a big step up from an old slider with a single latch.
